About Us

James studied horticulture and Garden Design at Pershore College in Worcestershire to HND level and on graduation moved to London in 2001 to work for Clifton Nurseries and the London based landscaping firm Gardenlink. "For four years I was lucky enough to build and maintain some lovely gardens and work with well known garden designers such as Andy Sturgeon and Jinny Blom. This helped build my experience and fuel my passion for gardening".

James then became Landscaping Manager for the Boma Garden Company based in North London and managed many new gardens projects for a further 5 years.

In 2010 James moved to North Dorset and set up his own business James Foster Landscaping. James currently employs 3 full-time gardeners and landscapers and works with local sub-contractors to build and maintain gardens. "We specialise in high-quality garden maintenance, planting design and supply as well as the full range of garden Landscaping services. Garden consultations and estimates are free and I'm able to assist with garden design and planting suggestions"

Garden Maintenance

GARDEN MAINTENANCE

We offer a high quality garden maintenance service, either on a regular basis (minimum of monthly gardening session) or on a once off basis (Spring / Autumn gardening sessions). The service includes pretty much all gardening jobs including grass cutting, lawn maintenance, hedge cutting, weeding borders and pruning as well as specialist pruning such as fruit trees, Wisteria and Roses. We have a range of equipment to help keep gardens tidy and provide access to tall trees or climbers.

Regular garden maintenance:

We offer a regular garden maintenance service with a minimum session length of 8 man hours based on weekly, fortnightly or monthly frequency. Sessions dates and times are pre-booked, and regular gardening customers benefit from a discounted hourly rate. We can tailor the service to your garden needs, your budget and your expectations of your garden to determine the frequency and length of the gardening sessions.

Once-off garden maintenance / garden make-overs:

For customers who need their gardens tidied for Spring, Autumn or for a party or event, we can book once off garden sessions. We can give advice on possible changes or improvements to your existing garden or design and install new planting schemes. A site visit will be made to determine the amount of work required, and give an estimate to the amount of time needed.

All green waste removed from site is chargeable with cost advised on the day.

Woodland Management

SMALL WOODLAND MANAGEMENT AND HEDGE LAYING

With a passion for trees and woodlands, it was obvious to add this service to our business a few years ago. We specialise in managing and maintaining small woodlands, typically fewer than 5 acres, for either timber production, amenity or wildlife benefits. We can survey your wood, produce a forestry management plan and work as your agent with the Forestry Commission. We are fully insured to fell trees and work along side contractors to extract timber. We often work with local horse loggers to extract timber and use traditional methods to manage woodlands.

Hedge laying

Maintaining hedges is vitally important in shaping the look of the countryside. Sadly, many are now neglected as the agricultural work force has declined. We offer a hedge laying service using the Dorset style and are fully insured to fell trees within the hedge if needed.

Typically woodland and hedge laying work is carried out between November and March to avoid bird nesting seasons.

Landscaping

LANDSCAPING

Landscaping - Our landscaping service includes all aspects of garden construction whether its a new patio, walling, timber decking, fencing, pergola or perhaps a wildlife pond. We can advise and source suitable materials for your project and provide free written quotations based on a detailed site meeting with a client or designer. We're happy to work with your garden designer, recommend local garden designers or work directly with the client to ensure the project runs smoothly.

Garden and planting design - We can advise on alternatives to existing gardens and produce creative planting plans. If you need complete garden design we're happy to recommend local designers.
